Bayern ask Kane to hold off on signing new Spurs contract

Bayern Munich have urged Harry Kane to put the signing of a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur on hold for the time being, according to the Daily Mail.

The Bundesliga champions haven’t replaced Robert Lewandowski, who now plays for Barcelona, with a designated striker, with former Liverpool winger Sadio Mane the only attacking reinforcement of the summer at the Allianz Arena. They won the first three matches of the season in a comfortable way, but then they dropped points at home against Borussia Monchengladbach and away to Union Berlin, and it seems the alarm bells have started ringing.

Kane’s contract expires in 2024, which obviously means it will only have a year left to run at the end of this season if he refuses to sign a new one. A move to the Bundesliga could then become a realistic possibility, providing Bayern decide to step up their interest.

The 29-year- old England captain, who was heavily targeted by Manchester City last year, has 253 goals and 59 assists in 392 matches in all competitions for Spurs.
