(GSM) – Bayern München have targeted Barcelona defender Martín Cáceres.

The Uruguay international was loaned out to Juventus last season but La Vecchia Signora didn’t take up their option to sign him outright.

Bayern are looking to add another left-back to their squad to replace Edson Braafheid, who failed to make an impact in his first year at the Allianz-Arena and spent the second half of last season on loan at Celtic.

Bayern coach Louis van Gaal already mentioned he was tracking Cáceres, who reached the semi-finals of the World Cup with Uruguay.

“Along with Gregory van der Wiel (the Dutch right-back who has also been linked with Bayern) I’ve watched Fabio Coentrão, Deco and Martín Caceres. I’ve seen them all playing at the World Cup,” said the Dutch tactician.

Milan have also been linked with the versatile defender but Bayern seem to lead the race for the 23-year-old, according to reports.
