Gent closed the gap on Anderlecht at the top of the Belgian First Division with a 3-2 win against Leuven on Saturday.

Striker Ilombe Mboyo scored what proved to be the winner just before the hour mark as Gent overturned an early deficit.

Leaders Anderlecht play their game in hand at home to Racing Genk on Sunday and still hold a four-point lead at the top.

Standard Liege were 2-0 victors away at Lierse in a match that ended with both teams having players sent off.

Michy Batshuayi scored the opener in the first half and Gohi Cyriac added the second before tempers threatened to spill over.

Felipe was sent off for the visitors, as was Boban Gmcarov, before William Vainqueur received a second yellow.

The win moves Liege into third ahead of Club Brugge, who host Germinal Beerschot on Sunday.

Igor Vetokele scored on the stroke of half-time for Cercle Brugge as they won 1-0 away at St Truiden while a Jens Naessens hat-trick eased Waregem to a 3-1 win over Westerlo.

Mechelen and Kortrijk played out a goalless stalemate and Lokeren were too good for Mons in a 3-1 victory.

I will give a lot of credit to jekinson for handling the rightback before his injury most especially on championsleague matches he has played and i wish him and Wack Wilshere and santos quick recovery.
