Gent kept the pressure on the top two in the Belgian First Division thanks to a 3-0 win over AS Eupen on Saturday.

With league leaders Anderlecht and Genk both facing road trips on Sunday, third-placed Gent cut the gap to first to just two points thanks to their win away at the Stadion am Kehrweg.

Captain Bernd Thijs got the visitors off to the perfect start when he opened the scoring on eight minutes, and Israel striker Shlomi Arbeitman doubled Gent’s advantage eight minutes before the break.

Ivorian midfielder Yaya Soumahoro grabbed a third 15 minutes from time to seal the win for Gent to leave Eupen perched precariously above the relegation zone.

Sint-Truiden won their third match in a row after defeating Kortijk 1-0 at the Stayen.

Midfielder Wim Mennes scored the winner in the 64th minute to seal the win, which moves them further clear of the drop zone.

Charleroi’s clash with Cercle Brugge and Mechelen’s trip to Lierse were both postponed.
