Competition: Brazil Serie A

Market: Both teams to score – No

Odds: 8/11 @ Pribet

In a Serie A showdown that could see chances come at a premium, Corinthians will welcome Botafogo to the Neo Quimica Arena in the early hours of Sunday.

Starting with the hosts, while Corinthians might have opened up the new Seria A campaign in the midst of a real rut, Antonio Oliveira’s men have come roaring back in an eye-catching fashion. Breezing their way to the knockout stage of this year’s Copa Sudamericana and claiming a thumping 3-0 victory at home against Racing Montevideo, the former Benfica coach has seen his squad win all of their previous three appearances across all competitions by an aggregate score of 9-1. Likewise, suffering just a single defeat from any of their last eight outings, the Timao have also continued to gain a reputation for their success on home soil. Signing off April with a stunning 3-0 win against Fluminense, Corinthians are unbeaten in all of their previous nine showdowns at the Neo Quimica Arena – a run that stems all the way back to a 1-0 loss against Ponte Preta on February 25th. Likewise, it should also be noted, Oliveira’s side have conceded just a single strike on home soil since the start of March.

As for the visitors, wrapping up their Copa Libertadores knockout stage ticket earlier in the week despite settling for a 0-0 stalemate away at Colombian outfit Junior, Botafogo have once again impressed since opening up the 2024 campaign. Opening this weekend’s fixtures battling it out in the top-four chase, Arthur Jorge’s men have suffered just a single defeat from any of their previous 11 appearances across all competitions. While Fogo might have failed to pick up a single victory away at Corinthians since way back in July 2012, the former Braga boss will be excited by his side’s extended success on their travels. In fact, Jorge’s camp have lost just a sole Serie A showdown outside of Rio de Janeiro since the start of November. It should also be highlighted, Botafogo have conceded just a single strike in over 300 minutes of action away from the Nilton Santos, chances could come at a premium here.
