Newcastle midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa does not believe recent injury set-backs will stop him from achieving his ultimate dreams.
After transferring to St James’ Park from Marseille in August 2010 on an initial loan deal, Ben Arfa suffered a horrific double-break in his leg. The 24-year-old has since only managed to make a total of 19 competitive appearances for his club.
However, Ben Arfa believes he can still go on to achieve great heights in his career.
“I always have the same plan as when I started, to become one of the best players,” Ben Arfa told France Football.
“Inevitably I lost some time in my career, but in my life, I have the impression that I will win. In fact, it’s sad that a career is not made between 24 and 40, because I would have all my chances.”
Ben Arfa has not made an appearance for France since scoring in a friendly against Norway in August 2010, yet he still remains hopeful over his future in national colours.
“I’m looking forward to the next three or four years,” he said.
“In that time, I see myself on top, winning for example the World Cup in Brazil or the Ballon d’Or. I’m still full of dreams.”
