Bitesize Prediction: Blackburn vs Leeds – 09/12/23

Competition: Championship

Market: Leeds win

Odds: 19/20 @ BetUS

Looking to extend on their Championship romp this weekend, Leeds will travel to Ewood Park when they meet Blackburn on Saturday lunchtime.

Starting with the hosts, while Blackburn might have claimed a welcomed boost when returning from November’s international break, the Rovers certainly came crashing back down to earth in a worrying fashion last weekend. Putting in a season-worst performance as they slumped to a shock 3-1 drumming at the hands of leading relegation scrappers Sheffield Wednesday, Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side are still searching for some much-needed stability. Facing what appears to be a stern test when Leeds arrive at Ewood Park this weekend, Blackburn will be concerned by their extended issues on home soil. Including a 4-1 drumming against Leicester on October 1st, Saturday’s hosts have lost four of their previous seven showdowns in Lancashire across all competitions. Likewise, it should also be highlighted, Tomasson’s men have recorded just a single Championship clean sheet in front of their own supporters since way back on April 15th.

As for the visitors, while Leeds might have lost their Premier League status last season, Daniel Farke’s side have their sights set on securing an immediate top-flight return. Last seen putting in another eye-catching display as they claimed a 3-2 victory at home against Middlesbrough, the former Norwich boss has seen his squad continue to gain a string of plaudits. Signing off November with a routine 3-1 victory against Swansea, Saturday’s guests have collected 16 points from their previous six Championship appearances. Gaining a reputation for their free-scoring performances in the final third and already notching 34 second-tier strikes, Leeds are now looking to make up some ground in the top-two chase. With just a single defeat to their name since the end of September, Farke’s men will be smelling a golden opportunity here. Despite showing some recent inconsistencies away from Elland Road, we are backing an away victory this weekend.
