Competition: Southern League Premier Central
Market: Goal to be scored in both halves
Odds: 3/5 @ Pribet
Looking to find a route into the play-off places on Wednesday night, Needham Market will travel to the Midlands when they meet Stourbridge.
Starting with the hosts, while Stourbridge might have all but officially confirmed their Southern League Premier Central status for another campaign, the Glassboys have largely come crashing back down to earth since their flurry last month. Now settling for consecutive 1-1 stalemates against Bishop’s Stortford and Alvechurch, Scott Adey-Linforth’s side have registered just a single win from any of their previous five appearances. Getting April underway with a 3-1 defeat away at promotion contenders Spalding United, the Midlands-based outfit have also struggled to find any defensive stability. Despite signing off March with a rollercoaster 4-3 victory at home against St. Ives, Stourbridge have recorded just a sole clean sheet from any of their previous 13 consecutive outings. With that run stemming all the way back to January 17th, Wednesday’s hosts have also mustered just a sole clean sheet in front of their own supporters since the end of November.
As for the visitors, finding top gear at a crucial time, Needham Market have certainly reignited their play-off dreams since opening April. Last seen over the weekend mounting a second-half comeback on home soil as they claimed a 2-1 victory against Barwell, Keith Nunn’s side will be desperate to extend on their recent purple patch. Laying down a real top-five marker earlier in the month as they stormed their way to a 3-1 win away at Sudbury, the Reds will be dreaming of a repeat performance here. Opening the midweek fixtures sat with just their goal difference keeping them outside the play-off places, Needham have won each of their previous three consecutive Southern League Premier Central appearances by an aggregate score of 6-2. Likewise, it should also be noted that Nunn’s side clinched a thumping 3-0 romp when they Stourbridge to Suffolk for their reverse meeting back on October 18th.
