Competition: Brazil Serie A

Market: Gremio double chance

Odds: 8/11 @ 1xBet

In what is a real battle at the top of the Serie A standings, Gremio will travel to the Nilton Santos when they meet Botafogo.

Starting with the hosts, while Botafogo might have enjoyed a record-breaking romp this season, it is fair to say that Lucio Flavio’s side have come crashing back down to earth in a spectacular fashion. Now with just their goal difference keeping them at the top of the Serie A table, the Lone Stars have the feel of a squad in the midst of a crisis. Last seen putting in another toothless performance as they suffered a 1-0 loss away at Vasco, the Rio de Janeiro-based outfit have now lost each of their previous three top-flight showdowns. Likewise, with their nightmare rut highlighted by an action-packed 4-3 loss against Palmeiras earlier in the month, Botafogo have claimed just a pair of wins from their previous 11 appearances across all formats. With that extended crisis stemming all the way back to August 27th, Flavio’s side have also shown some rather glaring struggles on home soil. In fact, the Lone Stars are without a win in their last five contests at the Nilton Santos.

As for the visitors, while Gremio might still find themselves tipped as an outside contender in this season’s Serie A title scrap, Renato Portaluppi’s men are enjoying a stellar top-flight flurry. Last seen putting in another gritty performance as they clinched a 1-0 victory at home against Bahia, the Tricolor have won each of their previous four appearances. With their rampant purple patch underlined by a 3-2 win against Brazilian giants Flamengo on October 26th, the former Fluminense boss will be calling on his squad to make another statement on Thursday night. Remarkably sat just three points adrift of leapfrogging Botafogo and finding a route to the top of the Serie A table, Gremio will also be excited by their most recent trip to the Nilton Santos. Landing a shock 5-2 victory when they last travelled to Rio de Janeiro back in February 2021, Portaluppi’s men should be smelling a potential opportunity here. Given what has been a huge recent gulf in class, we are expecting an away double chance in midweek.

Bet: Gremio double chance against Botafogo 8/11 for Thursday’s Serie B matchup @ 1xBet
