Bitesize Prediction: Burnley vs Everton – 16/12/23

Competition: Premier League

Market: Everton win

Odds: 6/5 @ BetUS

In the midst of what has become a stunning Premier League romp, Everton will make the trip to Turf Moor on Saturday evening when they meet Burnley.

Starting with the hosts, suffering a late collapse away at Brighton last weekend as they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate, Vincent Komapny’s side have largely failed to find any real momentum since marking their Premier League return. At the heart of a relegation scrap and tipped as a leading bottom-three contender in 2024, the former Manchester City skipper has seen his squad claim just a single win from any of their previous 10 appearances – a run that stems all the way back to October 3rd. Opening this weekend’s fixtures already sat five points adrift of top-flight safety, the Clarets have continued to gain a real reputation for their defensive issues. Facing what looks set to be a stern challenge when they return to Turf Moor on Saturday evening, Kompany’s side should also be concerned by their most recent showdown against Everton. Crashing out of the EFL Cup on November 1st following a 3-0 drumming at Goodison Park, Burnley will know that they have plenty of pressure on their shoulders here.

As for the visitors, while Everton might have been hit with an infamous 10-point deduction last month, Sean Dyche’s squad are enjoying a stunning Premier League purple patch. Skyrocketing their way out of the drop zone and with the mood around Goodison Park at a red-hot high, the former Burnley boss should be relishing a return to Turf Moor this weekend. Last seen putting in another thumping display as they secured a 2-0 victory against Chelsea, the Blues have now won all of their previous three Premier League appearances by an aggregate score of 6-0. With their remarkable top-flight flurry underlined by a 3-0 romp against Champions League outfit Newcastle earlier in the month, Everton will be smelling the chance to make another statement here. In fact, Dyche’s side have lost just one of their previous eight meetings against Premier League opposition – a run that stems all the way back to October 21st. Landing that 3-0 victory when they last met Burnley back on November 1st, we are expecting a similar away win.
