Competition: MLS

Market: Columbus Crew win

Odds: 2/1 @ 888sport

Looking to extend on their recent unbeaten run in the early hours of Thursday, Columbus will make the trip to DC United when the midweek MLS fixtures get underway.

Starting with the hosts, while it might seem that Wayne Rooney is on his way back to DC United to take charge of the MLS strugglers, the Blacks are in the midst of a real nightmare. Putting in what was a woeful display last weekend as they only came under more scrutiny, interim boss Chad Ashton saw his side get blown away thanks to a remarkable 7-0 defeat away at Philadelphia. Dealing with a host of issues both on the pitch and behind the scenes, the Washington-based outfit are tipped as a standout pick to claim the wooden spoon in the Eastern Conference this season. Now losing four of their last five MLS matchups, a run that stems back to a 2-1 draw against Toronto on May 21st, DC have only shown a string of problems defensively. It should also be noted, Thursday’s hosts have just a single win to their name over the past nine weeks.

As for the visitors, while DC might be in the midst of an extended nightmare, Columbus appear to be riding a recent wave. Mounting a stunning second-half comeback away at Chicago last weekend as they eventually snatched a 3-2 win on the road, there is no doubt that the Crew will be looking to build off of that success. Making the trip to Washington on Thursday sat just a single point adrift of breaking into the Final Series places, Caleb Porter’s men should be smelling the chance to lay down another marker here. Likewise, in the midst of a six-match unbeaten run, it should also be noted that Columbus hold a rampant record against the MLS strugglers. Landing back-to-back 3-0 and 3-1 victories against DC, we’re backing a similar outcome here that can be found at very attractive odds.

Bet: Columbus Crew 2/1 to beat DC United in Thursday’s MLS matchup @ 888sport
