Hoping to try and find a much-needed boost on Saturday evening, New York will welcome New England to Yankee Stadium when this weekend’s MLS fixtures get underway.

Starting with the hosts, throwing away a late lead last weekend and having to settle for a 2-2 draw at home against Atlanta, New York find themselves in the midst of an extended rut. Losing their spot at the top of the Eastern Conference, interim boss Nick Cushing has failed to offer the MLS giants any kind of stability. Now failing to win any of their last five domestic contests, there is no doubt that fans around Yankee Stadium will be worried by their side’s rather glaring issues at the back. Playing out what was a remarkable 4-4 draw away at Cincinnati on June 29th, NYCFC have now shipped 12 goals on their five-match winless run. Likewise, after crashing out of the US Open Cup after a 3-0 drumming against bitter local rivals New York Red Bulls last month, Cushing’s temporary squad could be in for another tough test.

As for the visitors, although New England might find themselves enjoying an impressive unbeaten run, they would have been disappointed to have only collected a point last weekend. Eventually playing out their own action-packed 2-2 draw against Cincinnati last time out, Bruce Arena’s men have gained somewhat of a recent tag as a stalemate specialist. Including a 1-1 draw at home against Orlando last month, the Revs have now had to settle for a single point in three of their last four domestic showdowns. Likewise, while New England might still find themselves sat in pole position to clinch a Final Series spot this season, they have shown some extended issues on the road. Crashing out of the US Open Cup at the hands of NYCFC on May 25th, we could be in for an enjoyable affair on Saturday evening.

Bet: Both teams to score at New York City vs New England Revolution 7/10 for Saturday’s MLS matchup @ 888sport
