Competition: MLS

Market: New York Red Bulls win

Odds: 4/5 @ Pribet

Two sides who will turn their attention back to MLS duties in the early hours of Monday, New York will welcome DC United to the Red Bull Arena.

Starting with the hosts, while New York might have suffered Leagues Cup heartbreak at the hands of Philadelphia earlier in the month, the Red Bulls should be excited to make a return to MLS action here. Still impressing many during their Leagues Cup knockout stage adventure as they picked up the scalps of both New England and bitter local rivals NYCFC, Troy Lesense’s men should be confident of making an MLS statement in the early hours of Monday. Desperate to skyrocket their way into the play-off places here, New York will be excited by their continued success on home soil. in fact, along with winning each of their last three home fixtures across all competitions, it should also be noted that Lesense’s side have won five of their previous six showdowns at the Red Bull Arena – a run that stems back to a 2-2 draw against Charlotte on June 22nd.

As for the visitors, also watching their Leagues cup adventure come to an abrupt end at the hands of Philadelphia, DC United will know that they face a huge challenge here. While Wayne Rooney’s men might still find themselves leading the chase to claim a play-off ticket this season, the Washington-based outfit have struggled to find any kind of stability. Heading into the Leagues Cup interval with a woeful 4-0 drumming at the hands of New England on July 16th, the former Manchester United icon has seen his side now win just one of their previous five appearances across all competitions. Likewise, losing three of their last four showdowns away from Audi Field, DC will also be concerned by a nightmare record against Monday’s opponents. Losing back-to-back trips to the Red Bull Arena by an aggregate score of 5-1, a similar home victory can be found at appealing odds here.
