Competition: League One

Market: Lincoln double chance

Odds: 8/15 @ BetUS

Looking to make it three victories on the bounce in midweek, Lincoln will travel to the Sixfields Stadium when they meet a struggling Northampton on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Northampton might have signed off their pre-season preparations with a 3-1 victory away at MK Dons, Jon Brady’s men have drastically struggled to keep up that momentum. Last seen over the weekend putting in another downbeat display as they were hit with a 2-1 loss at the hands of Wigan, the Cobblers have lost each of their first three appearances across all competitions since opening the 2023/24 campaign. Likewise, crashing out of the EFL Cup last week after suffering a routine 3-0 drumming at the hands of Championship outfit Swansea, the former Brackley boss has seen his squad show a string of issues at both ends of the pitch. Losing their opening three showdowns by an aggregate score of 6-1, Northampton should face another stern test on Tuesday night. While Daly’s men might have made their League One return this season, it appears that Brady’s side could be set for a relegation scrap in 2024.

As for the visitors, although Lincoln might have opened the 2023/24 campaign with a routine 3-0 loss away at promotion contenders Bolton, Mark Kennedy’s men have come roaring back over the past week. Last seen a few days ago cruising their way to a 3-0 romp at home against Wycombe, the Imps have now secured back-to-back victories across all formats. Likewise, extending on their EFL Cup adventure thanks to a 2-0 win away at Notts County, the former Macclesfield boss will be smelling the chance for his squad to make another statement here. Hoping to mount a genuine play-off charge this season, Lincoln will also be excited by their eye-catching record against Tuesday’s hosts. Landing a 2-1 win when they welcomed Northampton to town for a League One showdown back in January 2021, Kennedy’s side are unbeaten in each of their last five straight meetings. Given the recent gulf in class, we are backing an away double chance in midweek.
