As for the visitors, while Notts County might be leading the chase in the National League promotion chase, Gateshead find themselves in the midst of a continued struggle. Last seen over the weekend putting in another flat display as they were hit with a 2-0 loss at home against Aldershot, Mike Williamson’s men now sit four points adrift of safety. Although the one-time Newcastle defender might have seen his side land a shock 3-1 win against Southend last month, it appears that was just a minor boost for the relegation scrappers. In fact, that victory on home soil was the only win that Gateshead have collected from their previous nine attempts – a run that stems all the way back to October 18th. Facing what is a huge test when they make the trip to Meadow Lane in midweek, it is hard to see anything other than a routine home victory.
