Looking to widen their buffer in the Final Series spots on Saturday night, Seattle will welcome Portland to Lumen Field.

Starting with the hosts, managing to make an immediate return to winning ways last weekend with an eye-catching display on the road, Seattle are in the midst of an eye-catching run of form. Once again tipped as a landslide pick to clinch another Final Series spot this season, the Greens have lost just one of their last six MLS matchups. Managing to prove that their 2-1 loss against Montreal on June 29th was just a minor blip, Head Coach Brian Schmetzer has seen his side gain plenty of praise from across America. Likewise, suffering just a single defeat at Lumen Field their only loss in front of their own supporters since the middle of April, Seattle have also impressed with their displays in the final third. Including 4-0 and 3-0 victories against Sporting Kansas and Vancouver, Schmetzer’s side will be looking to lay down another marker.

As for the visitors, although Portland might have endured a nightmare run of form back in May, it appears that the Timbers have largely managed to put those issues behind them. Managing to mount a second-half rally away at Nashville last weekend as they snatched a point on the road, Giovanni Savarese’s side will be looking to keep up that momentum here. Now unbeaten in each of their last four MLS matchups, there is no doubt that Portland will have their sights set on making a charge for the Final Series spots. Making the trip to Seattle this weekend sat just one point adrift of breaking into the top-seven, Saturday’s guests will also be boosted by a largely impressive record against the Sounders. Including a 2-0 win in their last trip to Lumen Field, they have lost just a pair of their previous eight meetings against their Western Conference rivals.
