Bitesize Prediction: Shamrock Rovers vs Ferencvaros – 03/08/23

Competition: Europa Conference League qualifying

Market: Ferencvaros draw no bet

Odds: 7/10 @ BetUS

Simply looking to finish off the job and extend on their Europa Conference League qualifying adventure on Thursday night, Ferencvaros will travel to Ireland when they meet Shamrock Rovers.

Starting with the hosts, putting in a woeful first-leg display on foreign soil last week as they slumped to a nightmare 4-0 drumming, Shamrock find themselves in the midst of a public struggle. Coming under a huge amount of scrutiny over the past five weeks, the reigning Irish champions will be more than aware that they face a qualifying miracle on Thursday night. In fact, crashing out of the FAI Cup last week following a toothless 1-0 defeat at the hands of Dundalk, the Rovers have now lost each of their last four straight appearances across all competitions. Likewise, enduring what has been their longest winless rut in recent memory, Stephen Bradley’s men are without a single victory from their previous six attempts – a run that stems all the way back to June 26th. Showing a string of recent defensive issues, it should also be noted that Shamrock have remarkably notched just one goal on their six-match winless run.

As for the visitors, putting in a thumping first-leg performance on home soil last week as they stormed their way to that 4-0 romp, Ferencvaros will simply be looking to avoid what would be an infamous qualifying collapse in midweek. Although the Hungarian giants might have been heartbroken after watching their Champions League dreams go up in smoke against Klaksvik on July 19th, Csaba Mate’s men certainly claimed a crucial response last week. Signing off their pre-season preparations with a routine 3-0 victory against Romanian outfit Botosani last month, Thursday’s guests have lost just one of their previous four contests across all competitions. Laying down a major first-leg statement in Budapest, Mate will be calling on his side to produce a repeat performance here. Relishing a trip to Ireland in midweek when they meet a Shamrock squad in the midst of a public nightmare, we are backing an away draw no bet on Thursday night.
