In a Serie A showdown that could see chances at both ends of pitch, Inter Milan will make the trip to a high-flying Udinese on Sunday lunchtime.
Starting with the hosts, while Udinese might have been disappointed to have had to settle for a bottom-half finish last season, Andrea Sottil’s side are in the midst of a real purple patch. Last seen laying down another marker as they stormed their way to an action-packed 3-1 romp away at Sassuolo, the Bianconeri could be smelling the chance to lay down a shock marker here. Opening up this weekend’s fixtures sat in the final Champions League spot, fans around the Stadio Friuli should find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Putting in a famous display on September 4th as they breezed their way to a thumping 4-0 victory against Roma, Udinese have now won each of their last four Serie A showdowns on the bounce. Likewise, it should also be highlighted, Sottil’s men have bagged 10 strikes on their four-match winning run.
As for the visitors, managing to open their Champions League account earlier in the week thanks to a 2-0 victory away at Viktoria Plzeň, Inter Milan will be hoping to find some stability. While the former Serie A champions might have been last seen on domestic duties snatching a last-gasp 1-0 win at home against Torino, Simone Inzaghi’s men have struggled to lay down much of an early marker. Already suffering a pair of 3-2 and 3-1 losses against AC Milan and Lazio, the Nerazzurri will know that they face a tough task on Sunday lunchtime. However, picking up a 2-1 victory when they last faced off against Udinese back in May, Inter do hold a rampant record against the European dreamers.
