Jakub Blaszczykowski has committed his future to Borussia Dortmund after signing a five-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2018.

The Polish winger scored 11 league goals for the Bundesliga side last season and featured in the UEFA Champions League final which saw Dortmund narrowly beaten by Bayern Munich.

The 27-year-old has been with the club since 2006 and has made 168 Bundesliga appearances.

“When my contract expires, I will be able to look back on over a decade with BVB,” he said. “Such periods of time really are not common in professional football nowadays.

“It makes me very, very proud that a big club like Borussia Dortmund have shown such faith in me and plan with me in the long term. I have long since felt this is my second home.”

Blaszczykowski is currently with the Poland squad ahead of their crunch FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture against Moldova on June 7.

Dortmund also extended their best wishes to striker Daniel Ginczek who has left the club to join FC Nuremburg.

The 22-year-old spent last season out on loan at St Pauli where he scored 19 goals in 32 games as the Hamburg-based outfit finished 10th in 2.Bundesliga.
