Boca and Racing fighting for Cata Diaz

Boca Juniors and Racing de Avellaneda are set to battle for the signing of Getafe defender Cata Diaz, according to AS.

The 32-year-old centre-back has just over a year left on his contract with the La Liga side, but he never hid his desire to retire in Argentina and could decide to return to his homeland at the end of the season.

AS claims that Argentine giants Boca Juniors and Racing de Avellaneda are both showing interest in the experienced stopper and they could enter a real bidding war in the summer.

Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici recently confirmed his interest in Diaz, so there are no doubts los Xeneize will be looking to bring the defender back to La Bombonera.

On the other hand, Racing de Avellaneda boss Alfio Basile coached Diaz at Colon de Santa Fe before bringing him to La Bombonera in 2005 and he would love to be reunited with his former pupil.

It remains to be seen whether Getafe would be willing to negotiate the sale of the player who has been in excellent form this season.
