Looking to pull off remarkable back-to-back promotions, Forest Green will travel to Prenton Park on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, after suffering a very disappointing 3-1 loss away at Crawley on their final matchup of the season, it has been a worrying end to the year for Tranmere. Failing to win any of their last four and in desperate need of some momentum, Micky Mellon’s side managed to record just a single victory in their last seven matches of the League Two campaign. Despite recording just a single clean sheet since the start of April, leading goalscorer James Norwood has continued to shine this year. Bagging 29 goals and sat seven clear at the top of the goalscoring charts in League Two, the 28-year-old has also found the net in back-to-back encounters.

As for the visitors, managing to secure a playoff spot in their debut season in the Football League, few around The New Lawn would have expected Forest Green’s successful campaign. Winning four of their last six outings of the season, Mark Cooper’s side have continued to shine on the road this year. Winning four of their last five matches on the road, including a victory at Prenton Park last month, Forest Green also have their own leading man in red-hot form. Bagging 15 goals since returning from a brief loan spell with Bolton, Christian Doidge has also now scored five in his last five.
