Brighton reach Baleba agreement

Brighton and Hove Albion have reached an agreement with LOSC Lille over the proposed transfer of Carlos Baleba, according to multiple sources. The young midfielder is considered a good candidate to replace Moises Caicedo in Roberto De Zerbi’s ranks.

The Seagulls have shown an incredible knack for unearthing young talents who progress into top players very quickly in recent years. Caicedo was sold to Chelsea for £115 million only 18 months after coming in for around £25 million. Six of those months he spent on loan at Belgian side Beerschot. Players like Julio Enciso (19), Evan Ferguson (18) and Joao Pedro (21) could fetch similar profits in the near future as well. At the age of 19, Baleba could also be on that list soon.

Baleba joined Lille’s B side from Cameroonian club Brasseries in January 2022, and it took him just six months to earn first-team promotion there. He played 23 games in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side, contributing two assists.
