Burnley have made light of the criticism that followed their 2-2 draw at Chelsea on Monday.

The Clarets secured a valuable point in their bid to play Premier League football again next season with a battling display at Stamford Bridge, although their tactics infuriated the home fans and players.

Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton was booked for timewasting after 32 minutes while several of Sean Dyche’s players went down requiring treatment in the closing stages as Chelsea chased a winner to boost their own top-four hopes.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri was sent off during a second half which culminated in a tunnel melee while Blues defender David Luiz later accused Burnley of playing “anti-football”.

Dyche dismissed the accusation, stating “28 points from 16 games: you can’t do that with anti-football,” while Burnley’s official Twitter feed attempted to laugh off the controversy on Tuesday.

Accompanying a picture of a female supporter, they suggested: “Doesn’t everyone have an Auntie Football?”
