Emilio Butragueno insists coach Jose Mourinho still has the full support of the Real Madrid fans despite their slow start to the season.
Mourinho was seemingly whistled at by part of the Madrid faithful during their 3-0 Copa del Rey win over Alcoyano on Tuesday.
But Real Madrid legend Butragueno, the club’s director of institutional relations, is adamant the flamboyant coach still has the backing of fans.
“The Madrid fans clearly still support Mourinho, and so does the club. We’re completely behind the coach,” he told AS.
Real sit third in La Liga, trailing rivals Barcelona by 11 points, while they have to settle for second spot in Champions League Group D behind Borussia Dortmund.
Madrid face second-placed Atletico Madrid on Saturday as they aim to narrow the gap to their city rivals.
