Camavinga to delay Real move with new Rennes contract

Eduardo Camavinga is close to a decision to sign a new contract with Rennes, but he sees the deal as nothing more than a postponement of his transfer to Real Madrid, according to AS.

The highly rated midfielder was tipped to make his move to the Spanish capital this summer, but Real appear unable to complete the deal due to the financial implications of the ongoing pandemic. Nonetheless, he is so keen on joining the 13-time European champions that he is willing to wait for them to recover from their current situation, rather than leave his current club now and go elsewhere.

The 18-year-old is bound to Rennes until the summer of 2022 under the terms of his present deal, and the Ligue 1 side will be keen to avoid losing his talents for free. To that end, they have offered him a new deal which will guarantee them a decent fee, as well as provide the player with an increase in wages in turn.
