Guarani kept the pressure on league leaders Corinthians with a 2-0 win over XV de Piracicaba in the Campeonato Paulista on Thursday.

Vadao’s side climbed into second after the victory which saw their opponents lose their fourth match in succession.

After a goalless first half, defender Domingos opened the scoring on 50 minutes.

And Wellington Monteiro wrapped up the win with his goal 18 minutes from time.

Elsewhere, Guaratingueta came from behind to beat Catanduvense 3-1.

Tiago Oliveira gave Catanduvense the lead after just 10 minutes but Wether Da Silva equalised four minutes before half time.

Further strikes to Luiz Felipe Rodrigues and Maxuel in the second half handed the winners just their second victory of the season.

And Palmeiras missed the chance to rejoin Corinhians at the top of the table after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home against Oeste.

Mazinho put the visitors in front from the penalty spot after 11 minutes, but Maikon Leite struck five minutes before half time to salvage a point for Palmeiras.
