Campeonato Paulista wrap: Palmeiras spoil Neymar party

Neymar scored the 100th goal of his career but Santos failed to take the points against Palmeiras in the Campeonato Paulista on Sunday.

On his 20th birthday, Neymar gave Santos the lead in the 70th minute, but Palmeiras spoiled the young striker’s party with two goals in the final five minutes from Fernando de Santana and Juninho Barbosa.

Palmeiras moved into fourth on the Paulista table thanks to the 2-1 victory.

Sao Paulo moved into first spot on the competition table and remain unbeaten thanks to a 3-1 win at Ponte Preta.

Willian Jose starred for Sao Paulo with two goals as the league leaders claimed their fourth win of the state championship out of five games.

Corinthians failed to win for the first time this season and dropped to third after their 1-1 draw with Bragantino.

Peruvian midfielder Luis Ramirez claimed the draw for Corinthians with a strike in the 51st minute.

In other results, Linense scored twice in two minutes to win a 4-2 thriller against Guaratingueta, XV de Piracicaba held off a fast-finishing Oeste to win 2-1 and Guarani had a 1-0 victory at Sao Caetano.
