Antonio Cassano will begin training with his new AC Milan team-mates ahead of a move to the Serie A leaders in January.

The 28-year-old striker, who has scored four goals in seven Serie A games for Sampdoria this season, flew out to join Milan at their mid-season training base in Dubai and was cheered by supporters at Milan airport where he was seen wearing a club tracksuit.

Cassano, whose three-and-a-half year deal with Milan will be made official when the transfer window opens in January, left Sampdoria after a spat with the club’s president, Riccardo Garrone.

Brazilian star Ronaldinho will also join the Milan squad in Dubai despite speculation of a possible move to Brazilian side Gremio, the club where he began his career.

The 30-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season, and after falling out of favour with new boss Massimiliano Allegri he may still be allowed to leave in January despite a Milan spokesman insisting no deal had been finalised.
