Celtic in the hunt for Bellamy

(GSM) – Celtic boss Neil Lennon has maintained silence on speculation linking the Glasgow club with a move for Manchester City star Craig Bellamy.

Bellamy’s future at City looks uncertain following the arrival of David Silva from Valencia and the possible recruitment of Mario Balotelli from Internazionale, which could push Bellamy down the pecking order at Eastlands.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp and new Fulham chief Mark Hughes are both thought to be in active pursuit of the Welshman.

However, Celtic could be set to enter the chase for the former Newcastle United and Liverpool forward.

Bellamy enjoyed a spell on loan at Celtic in 2005 and Lennon has refused to rule out a move for his former Bhoys team-mate.

“I wouldn’t like to say anything at the moment,” he said when asked about reports of a move for Bellamy.

When asked whether the club were in a position to pull off that sort of transfer, he replied: “I would hope so but I don’t know. It’s still up in the air regards that.”
