Cesena have sacked coach Marco Giampaolo after a defeat to Parma on Sunday left the club winless and bottom of Serie A.
Goals from Gabriel Paletta and Alessandro Lucarelli saw Parma run out 2-0 winners at home to Cesena, who are now five points from safety and yet to record a victory this season.
Giampaolo, 44, took over at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi in June, replacing Massimo Ficcadenti.
Now in charge of Cagliari, Ficcadenti left Cesena by mutual consent in May despite keeping the team in the top flight the previous season.
“We will change the technical guide,” Cesena president Igor Campedelli said following a sixth defeat from nine league matches played.
“The team haven’t been able to give the answers we were expecting and also from a pride point of view.”
“In this moment I feel the duty to change the coach. We will announce as soon as possible the name of the new coach.”
“We hadn’t taken in consideration other names because we were hoping for a different answer from the team.”
“We will immediately start working to change the coach.”
Cesena’s next match is at home to Lecce on Sunday.
The team finished 15th under Ficcadenti in 2010/11, seven points above the relegation zone.
