Champions League qualification to determine Rabiot’s future

According to Rai, Adrien Rabiot’s decision about signing a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain will depend on whether the French title holders qualify for this season’s Champions League knockout stages.

Halfway through the group stages, PSG sit third in their group with four points to their name, behind Napoli in second place and Liverpool leading the pack. Red Star Belgrade sit at the bottom with a single point.

Rabiot has so far reportedly rejected three offers of a new deal, the last one of €7.2million per year in wages as he apparently wants €10million. Barcelona and Juventus have been touted as his potential destinations should he opt for a change of scenery when his contract expires next summer. In order to avoid that possibility, PSG might decide to let him go in a cut-price deal in January if he doesn’t put pen to paper by then.

And that, apparently, depends on whether the club will succeed in changing their table position in the Champions League Group C over the next three rounds.
