A superb last quarter of an hour has helped Birmingham City to a 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest in the Championship on Sunday.
Chris Hughton’s team were struggling against lowly Forest at The City Ground, but the introduction of New Zealand striker Chris Wood proved decisive.
Chris Burke had levelled in the 75th minute before Wood struck a brace, leaving Forest languishing in 21st, just one point clear of the relegation zone.
Birmingham have played eight matches – two less than most of their Championship rivals – and sit 17th.
Steve McLaren’s side had dominated the first half, taking the lead 10 minutes before the break through Ishmael Miller.
Burke hammered home a leveller with 15 minutes to go then turned provider for Wood four minutes later, cutting back for the 19-year-old striker to tap home.
Wood broke through again with two minutes remaining in regular time to guarantee the points, sliding home the third after being played behind the defence.
