Chelsea to enter Toney race?

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are considering a move for Brentford star Ivan Toney this summer, as a precaution as Paris Saint-Germain want their primary striker target, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen has long been Chelsea’s wish as they seek for a way to improve their attacking output, but in the light of Kylian Mbappe being set to leave PSG at the end of the season, the London Blues fear the Nigeria international could be lured by the surety of trophies the Ligue 1 champions offer, not to mention playing in the Champions League next season, where as Chelsea most likely won’t be. PSG will also be able to offer larger wages.

As for Toney, the Bees hitman has been linked most heavily with Arsenal, though it has been reported that Manchester United could also make a move for his services. If Chelsea enter the fray too, the 27-year-old will obviously have some serious thinking to do, though Brighton’s Evan Ferguson is another option they might go for.
