Guangzhou Evergrande moved clear at the top of the Chinese Super League after posting a 1-0 win away to Shanghai Shenhua.
Feng Junyang scored the only goal of the game after 31 minutes to hand Evergrande their third win of the season from four matches.
The reigning champions went into Friday’s game level at the top with newly promoted local rivals Guangzhou R&F on six points.
In the Chinese capital, Beijing Guoan had a comfortable 3-1 win over Tianjin Teda.
After a scoreless first half, Reinaldo gave the home side the lead after 51 minutes.
The tall Brazilian tapped in after Teda’s goalkeeper failed to hold onto the ball after a header from a free-kick.
Xu Liang doubled Beijing’s lead four minutes later, although Tianjin hit back in the 67th minute when Wang Xinxin scored.
But the visitors’ hopes of a draw were ended when midfielder Zhang Xizhe scored Beijing’s third goal with 16 minutes to play.
The victory means Jaime Pacheco’s team moves to six points, level with Guangzhou R&F, while Tianjin remain on four points.
In Friday’s other match, Shandong Luneng grabbed their first win of the season, defeating Qingdao Jonoon 1-0.
The visitors scored through Hao Junmin in the fourth minute.
