Inter Milan defender Cristian Chivu has damaged knee ligaments, the club said on Sunday.
The Romania captain was forced off during the second half of the champions' 3-2 victory at Reggina on Saturday due to the injury.
Inter did not reveal how much time the centre-back faces on the sidelines but said that he will not need to go under the knife.
