Aly Cissokho wants to leave Ligue 1 club Lyon in the January transfer window, with the English Premier League his preferred destination.
The 24-year-old full-back was linked with a move away from the French outfit before the 2011/12 campaign, while Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas hinted on December 24 that Cissokho could be on his way.
The former Porto left-back has now confirmed to L’Equipe that he could depart, identifying England as his preferred destination amid reports of interest from Newcastle United.
“I spent the break calmly and enjoyed the holidays. This week, I will speak with the OL staff. I reckon I prefer England, but for now, there is nothing done,” he said.
Despite his imminent departure, former Porto man Cissokho has featured in all 19 of Lyon’s Ligue 1 matches so far this term.
Remi Garde’s men entered the French winter hiatus in fourth place, five points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
