City won’t pay January premium for Sanchez

The transfer saga surrounding Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez and his potential move to Manchester City has been bubbling away in the background of this Premier League season since the Citizens’ deadline day move for the Arsenal star was derailed by the Gunners.

This week however the rumours have reached fever pitch and now the Manchester club are reportedly pulling out of negotiations to bring Sanchez to the Etihad in January, opting instead to hold off until the summer, according to the Mirror. By waiting until the end of the season when the Arsenal man’s contract expires Pep Guardiola and City could land the winger without having to pay the North London club a single penny.

Much will of course depend on the form and fitness of Manchester City’s current forwards, as well as Sanchez’s interactions with other clubs who are interested in acquiring his signature. Guardiola’s biggest rivals in the pursuit of the Chilean are French giants PSG, and if the Parisians can muster a tempting enough bid to turn Sanchez’s head then City will have to act quickly in January to make sure they don’t lose out.
