With the chance to climb off the foot of the Western Conference, Colorado Rapids will welcome Minnesota United to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in the early hours of Sunday.

Starting with the hosts, putting in yet another dominant display in their 3-1 win at home to Cincinnati last weekend, few would have expected Colorado’s eye-catching resurge. Now enjoying a four-match unbeaten run and winning three of those contests, a huge part of their recent revival has come down to their continued showings in the final third. Led by leading goalscorer Kei Kamara, the Rapids have now scored eight goals on their unbeaten run and their showings in Denver will be most impressing Head Coach Conor Casey. Sunday’s hosts have picked up back-to-back wins on home soil, scoring three goals in each of those victories.

As for the visitors, while Colorado might be enjoying a bright run of form, the same cannot be said for a struggling Minnesota outfit. Putting in another lackluster display in their 3-2 loss at home to Philadelphia Union last time out, Carl Craig’s side have lost three of their last four appearances and find themselves on the verge of slipping out of the play-off positions. A huge part of United’s major issues of late has come down to their continued struggles away from Allianz Field. Losing their last three away matches on the road they have lost five of their last six outside of Minnesota, a run that stems back to the start of March.
