Looking to widen their buffer in the play-off spots this weekend, Columbus Crew will welcome Chicago to the Historic Crew Stadium in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Starting with the hosts, last seen prior to the international break landing a deserved 2-1 victory against Toronto on home soil, Columbus Crew have managed to prove that those back-to-back defeats last month were just a minor blip. Tipped as one of the standout picks to once again land themselves a play-off spot in the Eastern Conference, Head Coach Caleb Porter has seen his side largely impress both on MLS and Concacaf Champions League duties. Smelling what is a golden chance to make it three wins on the bounce when they return to action this weekend, Columbus also hold a fearsome record at the Historic Crew Stadium. Picking up seven points from their opening three domestic contests on home soil since opening the 2021 campaign, Sunday’s hosts are also unbeaten in each of their last 10 MLS matchups on Ohio continuing on from last season.

As for the visitors, while the mood in Columbus’ camp should be at a real high, the same cannot be said for a struggling Chicago. Failing to build off of that much-needed victory against Inter Miami last month, The Fire were last seen heading into the international break with a deserved 1-0 loss at the hands of Montréal on home soil. With only their goal difference stopping them from falling to the foot of the Eastern Conference, Head Coach Raphaël Wicky has seen his side lose five of their last six MLS matchups. In fact, along with mustering just a single win so far this season, it should also be noted that Chicago have really shown a host of issues in the final third. Finding the net just once since their 3-1 defeat away at Atalanta back in April, we’re backing what should be another stern test when Wicky’s side travel to Ohio.
