Connor to support board´s decision

Wolves manager Terry Connor says he will throw his support behind any decision that is made on his future by the club.

Connor has been in charge at Molineux since Mick McCarthy’s departure but has picked up just three points from 33 available, with Wolves’ relegation to the Championship confirmed last week.

Speaking after his side’s remarkable come-from-behind 4-4 draw with Swansea on Saturday, Connor told Sky Sports: “I accept whatever the club do.

“I will give a full review of my thoughts, and what we have done well and not so well. I’ll see where the club want to go and if I’m part of that great. But if not, I accept it.

“Whatever path the club decide to take will be for the benefit of the football club and to get us back in the Premier League as quickly as possible. I’ve had 13 great years there and I’ll do what’s best for Wolves.”

It looked set to be another embarrassing day for Wolves, who trailed Swansea 4-1, but the manager credited his players bravery to snatch a point.

“All credit is to the lads – they fought back,” Connor said.

“At half-time we encouraged them to do more of the same, keep being brave, and keep going for the game.

“And we got some reward from today. At the end of the game I thought if there was going to be a winner it would be us.”

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers felt his team should have put in a defensive display to match their early attacking prowess.

“It was a game of two halves,” he said.

“Offensively we were a threat. First half we were sensational and probably we were too comfortable in the game.

“You score four goals at home and with our defensive record we would expect to win the game.

“But we conceded disappointing goals today. Defensively, in particular in the second half, we were disappointing – not just the back four but as a team.”
