Conte literally speechless after dramatic win

Juventus coach Antonio Conte could not speak after his side’s dramatic Coppa Italia semi-final victory after shouting himself hoarse.

The Juventus boss had to send assistant coach Angelo Alessio to face the media after losing his voice following his side’s extra-time victory over AC Milan in Turin on Tuesday.

A Mirko Vucinic thunderbolt saw Juve progress to the final after Milan had clawed their way back to level terms thanks to goals from Djamel Mesbah and Maxi Lopez.

“Antonio always lives each match with such passion, and now he’s voiceless,” Alessio told Juventus’ official website after the match.

“We’ve produced a great performance, and this has occurred thanks to the lads, who really wanted to get through to the final. They’ve been giving their all for eight months in order to achieve this goal.”

“This evening, we’ve faced a great side and we’ve been forced to limit our pressing.”

“We’ve done well in reacting immediately after Milan had gone in front, and in extra-time we’ve reacted even better, creating three goal chances and finally netting through Vucinic.”

Juventus now turn their attention back to overhauling Milan at the top of the Serie A, with Conte’s side set to host Inter on Sunday, a day after Milan meet Roma at the San Siro.
