Juventus coach Antonio Conte was happy with his side’s opening-round Serie A win, but warned his players they have plenty of work ahead.

Juve stormed to 4-1 win over Parma on Sunday, in what was their first league game at their new stadium, Juventus Arena.

Two of the goals were scored Conte’s close-season signings, Stephan Lichsteiner and Arturo Vidal, while Simone Pepe and Claudio Marchisio also got on the scoresheet for the victors.

“I really like the way the team have gone into today’s match,” Conte said afterwards.

“All players have had the right behavior, the right mentality and the willingness to run and make the effort, the willingness to sacrifice and think as a whole team.”

Despite the emphatic nature of the win, Conte said the performance was merely a reminder of his side’s potential, and not necessarily an indication of things to come.

“In any case we shouldn’t get excited,” he added.

“We know that we should work hard and the work will be difficult. This is only the beginning and we have room for improvement.”

“Such performances should give us the knowledge that we can do a good job, if we want to.”

“I wish that some players will find again the self-confidence, which has been missing in the last years due to the bad results in the championship.”

Juventus travel to Siena for their second league encounter on Sunday.
