Leonardo Bonucci insists that Antonio Conte is still crucial for Juventus as he feels the coach’s hard work on the training ground is paying off.

Conte was handed a 10-month ban for his failure to report two instances of match-fixing during his spell in charge of Siena, and consequently is not allowed to coach the team on match days.

However, the successful coach can still take charge of training sessions, and Bonucci has made it clear that Conte remains a key figure for Juve.

“The equaliser against Chelsea was a move prepared on the training ground and demonstrates that our work during the week pays dividends,” the defender told Sky Sport Italia.

“Our preparations with Conte enable us to be calm when we take to the field and we know that whoever is on the bench will stick to his game plan.

“We’re a team with great values. We have drive, the desire to never give up and can hold our own wherever we play.”

Juventus will be looking to maintain their perfect record in Serie A on Saturday when they host Chievo.
