Uruguayan side Liverpool are into the Copa Sudamericana round of 16 after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Envigado on Thursday.

Liverpool took a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Colombia, meaning they claimed a 2-1 aggregate victory and booked their spot in the next phase of the competition.

The match was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but had to be postponed due to bad weather in Montevideo.

The home side made it worth the wait for the supporters when Jonathan Barboza set up Carlos Nunez for the opener on the half-hour mark.

Envigado emerged from the half-time interval determined to score a leveller, but they could not find a way past Matias Castro in the Liverpool goal, and the bulk of the crowd at the Estadio Luis Franzini went home satisfied with the result.
