Olimpia hold a slim advantage in their Copa Sudamericana second-round tie against Emelec following a 2-1 victory in Thursday’s first leg.

Paraguayan club Olimpia led through a goal from Colombian midfielder Vladimir Marin in the 15th minute of the match at Estadio Manuel Ferreira.

The Ecuadorian visitors levelled courtesy of Nicolas Vigneri’s goal five minutes before half-time.

But Marin was on target again to claim a brace with 20 minutes remaining, ensuring Olimpia take a slender lead into the return fixture next Wednesday.

Also on Thursday, Deportivo Cali managed a 1-1 draw in their second-round first leg away to fellow Colombian side Santa Fe.

Argentine midfielder Omar Perez put hosts Santa Fe ahead from the penalty spot just before the hour mark at Estadio Nemesio Camacho.

Midfielder Breiner Belalcazar struck with three minutes remaining to snatch a draw and what could prove to be a vital away goal for Deportivo.

The two sides meet again in next Thursday’s second leg, with a place in the last 16 up for grabs.
