An extra-time goal from Mirko Vucinic was enough to take Juventus through to the Coppa Italia final after a 2-2 draw with AC Milan.

An earlier Alessandro Del Piero goal had looked like taking the Turin giants through, but that was cancelled out in the second half by goals from Djamel Mesbah and Maxi Lopez which levelled the two-legged semi-final at 3-3.

Vucinic was on hand in extra time, though, to score a sumptuous goal that gave Antoio Conte’s men a 4-3 aggregate win.

After the first leg at San Siro was won 2-1 by Juventus back in February, Milan needed to be aggressive in the return fixture and dominated possession early.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic had a shot turned away by goalkeeper Marco Storari on 20 minutes, while Clarence Seedorf had a long-range effort just creep over the bar soon after.

But on 27 minutes, Milan were left cursing their wastefulness as the hosts opened the scoring through veteran Del Piero.

A superb run from Stephan Lichtsteiner down the right-hand side culminated in a low cross towards Del Piero, who flicked the ball over the on-rushing Marco Amelia, and coolly tapped it into the net.

The sides returned for the second period, and almost immediately Milan were level, with Mesbah scoring with a diving header after Philippe Mexes’ cross had eluded the Juventus deence.

Milan continued to press forward and the wave-after-wave of attacks eventually paid dividends on 81 minutes.

Lopez received the ball just outside the area, turned defender Giorgio Chiellini, and smashed it into the top right-hand corner past Storari to level the tie at 3-3.

Extra time begun with exactly the same frenetic tempo as the game itself, and within minutes, Juventus had two great chances to score.

Firstly, a cross from the left found Marco Borriello, but he could only fire straight at the keeper.

Then Vucinic played Emanuele Giaccherini clean through on goal, but the youngster had the ball taken from under his feet Amelia after trying to round the keeper.

But midway through the first half all that was forgotten as Vucinic struck an beautiful effort from 30 yards into the top right-hand corner of the net to give Juventus a 4-3 aggregate lead which they would not surrender.

The victory sends Juventus into the final for the first time since 2004, with either Siena or Napoli to be their opponent in the decider.
