Cork City travel to United Park to face Drogheda United in the Irish Airtricity League on Friday evening, and are big favourites to come out on top given the gulf in class between the two sides. Cork City are chasing the title while Drogheda are embroiled in a relegation battle, and the visitors should make light work of the hosts as a result.
As for the home side, Pete Mahon’s Drogheda United side are currently rock bottom of the Irish Airtricity League with 18 points from 24 games this season, coming off the back of five defeats from their last half a dozen outings. Drogheda have fared just as badly on home soil, suffering four consecutive defeats in their own backyard.
As for the visitors, John Caulfield’s Cork City side find themselves top of the division with 64 points, having won five of their last six games. City’s unbeaten run recently came to an end, but they have still won 10 and drawn one of their 11 away games this season and should have no trouble against United.
