Brandao inspired Marseille to a 3-1 win over Bourg-Peronnas on Wednesday to book their place alongside PSG in the Coupe de France quarter-finals.

The Brazilian has been in hot form since he returned from loan spells with Cruzeiro and Gremio in his native country, and he opened the scoring against the fourth-division outfit in the 28th minute when he latched onto Cesar Azpilicueta’s cross.

He doubled his tally on the stroke of half-time when he buried Morgan Amalfitano’s perfectly weighted ball.

Ghanaian Jordan Ayew made it three soon after half-time with a low shot that effectively sealed the tie.

Bourg Peronnas made it 3-1 with a consolation from Ousmane Diaby 12 minutes from time.

Elsewhere on Wednesday, Ligue 1 leaders PSG ousted fellow top-flight side Dijon 1-0 courtesy of Nene’s first-half goal.

The Brazilian scored fortuitously in the 14th minute, tapping into an open net after goalkeeper Baba Tchagouni had fluffed a routine clearance.

The visitors piled on the pressure and Nene again came close minutes before half-time, shaving the post with his low shot from outside the box.

Dijon responded after the interval with mounting pressure but Brice Jovial was denied by Marseille goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez 20 minutes from the end and that was as close as they came.
