Third-tier side Quevilly booked their spot in the last eight of the Coupe de France with a 2-0 win over Orleans on Tuesday.

Orleans – who also play their football in the third division of French football – headed into the match on the back of two successive losses, while Quevilly suffered a 5-2 home defeat in their last fixture.

With neither side in particularly good form, an even battle was expected and after no goals in the first 90 minutes, extra time was required.

Striker Pierrick Capelle bagged the opening goal of the game on 101 minutes, giving Quevilly the lead at the end of the first period of extra time.

As Orleans pushed more men forward in the hope of an equaliser, Quevilly hit them with a second goal as Anthony Laup sealed the club’s spot in the quarter-finals.

Quevilly – who are just one of two sides remaining in the competition that do not play in Ligue 1 – earned themselves a home tie against Marseille with their victory.
