Goalkeeper Gregory Coupet will play his last match for Lyon in the French Cup final on Saturday, the France international announced on the club's website on Friday.

Coupet issued the news after taking part in training at the seven-time champions' Stade Gerland ahead of Saturday's clash with Paris Saint Germain at the Stade de France.

“Yes, I'm leaving, it had become an open secret,” the 35-year-old Coupet confirmed. “My way of saying thank you to the fans will be to win the Cup by being invincible.”

Coupet joined Lyon in 1997 and aside from his seven French league titles he moves on with a French league Cup title in 2001.

The former Saint Etienne keeper has turned out 29 times for his national team, stepping out from under Fabian Barthez's shadow after the 2006 World Cup.

His first cap came against Australia in the 2001 Confederations Cup.

Coupet has been consistently linked to London club Tottenham but he has denied he has signed for the English League Cup winners.
